Frequently Asked Questions
A: The Organization of Triangles is a fraternal youth organization started
in 1926 by Rose E. Scherer. Young women between the ages of 10-21 may
join. Triangle is not a religious group but, members are encouraged to
believe in a Supreme Being. Girls of all religious denominations have
been and are welcome as members. We have supervisors, but we are in charge
of planning and conducting our own meetings and activities. We help the
community through service projects and we participate in fun stuff too
like bowling or dances, and trips throughout the state and country!
A: Most Triangles meet twice a month. Sunrise Triangle meets on the first and third Fridays of the month. We also gather for servings, visitations, volunteering, sleepovers, weekend trips, and more. Each member decides how active they want to be. You get out of Triangle what you put into it!
A: During a Triangle meeting, the officers discuss business such as charity work and visitations as well as conduct ceremonies such as Initiation of new members. Like most organizations, Triangle does have some closed meetings that only members attend. However, parents and/or legal guardians are always invited to attend our closed meetings. It is during these meetings that our members practice their public speaking, learn how to conduct a business meeting and plan their events.
A: Yes, Triangle does have a dress code for their activities. During regular business meetings, the members must wear formal dresses. Members also receive bars for their hard work and dedication which they
may wear on their gown or sash. Each member wears a sash during the
meetings stating their office. The Past Beloved Queens can buy a special sash with their term embroidered on it. But not all of our functions are formal. Some other events such as servings or visitations require members to wear skirt sets or dresses. And at our casual activities, girls may wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for the specific event.
A: It's quite simple!
Step 1: Find the closest Triangle to you and contact their Junior Deputy. The Junior Deputy will invite you to Triangle event to meet the girls and find out more!
Step 2: Complete a petition or application asking for basic information and return it to theĀ Junior Deputy. (A petition may be obtained from the Junior Deputy or printed out
here).
Step 3: A small group of Triangle girls and a Supervisor will come to your home at an agreed time. The informal get-together will give you and your family an opportunity to learn more about joining Triangle.
Step 4: Finally, you will participate in an Initiation Ceremony. This ceremony officially welcomes you into the organization and teaches you our values and ideals. It is a great experience and as always, parents and/or legal guardians are more than welcome to join us.
